Botanic Bounty’s Sodium Bentonite Clay is a naturally occuring clay formed from volcanic ash deposited in an ancient depression and modified by geological process.
It is milled to ensure a fine particle size making the product more reactive when moisture is added.
Our Sodium Bentonite Clay has a high purity, extremely high montmorillonite and low grit content.
It has the unique characteristic of swelling to several times its original volume when wet. The small plate-like particles provide a very high surface area.

This leads to improved soil fertility and aids in the prevention of wash-out of fertilizers.
Sodium Bentonite Clay is used by cactus growers by adding it to other growing media and potting mixes to replicate their natural growing environment.
Escobaria, Ariocarpus, Epithelantha and Lophophora are some genera known to benefit from adding 2-3% of Sodium Bentonite Clay to the growing media.
